The courts of Pablo González and Poland have a high security module to receive visits from family members. The courts responded to Oihana Goiriena’s request to justify why she wants her husband to be visited and why her children talk on the phone with her father. “It is absurd,” he said in the Committee on European Affairs and External Action of the Basque Parliament. Public has taken up what has been said in the Commission.

The lawyer told Goiriena that he may also be suspected of Poland’s secret services, “But why can’t children talk to their father?”

He asks that you be able to speak directly with Pablo González, “especially that his children may hear that his father is there. Gonzalez's right to direct communication is being violated and three minors are denied communication with his father. It's pretty outrageous."

He has also explained in Parliament that Gonzalez’s lawyer is forbidden to speak of the case and that the information he receives about his husband is rather limited.

How long?

The prisoner can only communicate with the consul of Spain and the lawyer of Poland. The consul is “the only and most reliable direct means of communication with my husband, mediating between the two”. Oihana Goiriena has stressed that Pablo González is in good health and optimistic, “but he is aware that he can spend two years in provisional prison awaiting trial.”

He adds that the Government of Spain would like to have a direct communication with him.

Goiriena calls for visits to be made, for telephone calls to be made, for the Pablo González prison not to be extended and for the date of the trial to be set.

Gonzalo Boye, González’ lawyer, pointed out that the situation is absolutely atypical and that Poland is not complying with the requirements of the European Union for a process with guarantees.
