One year after the Basque journalist Pablo González was imprisoned in Poland, the Polish Court decided to extend the detention in February by three months. Polish leaders have now accepted Gonzalo Boye as their lawyer. Thus, for the first time the lawyer has been able to visit the journalist.

Gonzalez has been in solitary confinement for over a year: he leaves an hour in the yard, has no visits from family and friends, does not allow reading material and denies him information about his case. Despite these conditions, the lawyer states that "it is as good as possible". Boy has been able to prepare the journalist's defense with González and his Polish defense team lawyers, even though access to the proceedings is "very restricted", which "reduces" the right to the reporter's defense.

Boy highlighted that during the visit he was able to update González, explaining the "support" he receives in Euskal Herria and the initiatives organized by his wife, the FreePablo movement and other groups. The lawyer says he was "grateful and very excited."

Concentration and collection showing support

Pablo González was honoured on Sunday in Narbaniz, the town where the journalist lives. Hundreds of people have gathered at the event and various actions have been taken to raise funds to finance González’s defence. In the morning they have sold bags and plates, pintxos, beverages and hot broth. At 9:30 a mountain march has been started and ended at 12:30 with concentration. Later it was the bertsolaris Onintza Enbeita and Xabal Galletebeitia.
