Some candidates reported being scammed at the Osakidetza OPE last year, and an investigation was launched to address the issue of tax fraud. The report presented in February by the Basque Country Attorney General, Carmen Adam, indicated that evidence of crime had been found. Adam suspected eleven specialties and discovered three leading positions in Osakidetza: Deputy Director Xabier Balerdi, former Director of Human Resources Juan Carlos Soto and Director of Health Care Andoni Arzelai will be attended by the doctor.
The Court of Inquiry No. 2 of Vitoria-Gasteiz has opened a court case and has spoken of two crimes: disloyalty in the custody of documents and discovery and disclosure of secrets. So far, he has put under investigation three doctors who are part of the jury of Anesthesiology, Angiology and Space Digestive System, but has not made any decision about those responsible for Osakidetza persecuted by Adam.
The Attorney General filed the complaint in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where Osakidetza is based and where the opposition tests are carried out in the same city. The case has been referred to the Court of Instruction No. 2 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and alternate judge Yolanda Varona has signed the order for admission to the proceedings. He has quoted the three doctors to make statements and ten other witnesses as witnesses. The appointments will be made in the last weeks of May, following the municipal and foral elections, as reported by the foral executive.
Not only in the courts, but also in the political sphere, the road to fraud in the Osakidetza oppositions has begun. EH Bildu has asked lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, to withdraw the Health Advisor, Jon Darpón, and a proposal for reprobation of the counsellor will be discussed in the Basque Parliament.
