As the Basque Government’s Department of Health reported in a note, two other day psychiatric hospitals have been opened in Bizkaia. One in Bilbao, in the Plaza Zabalburu, with capacity for 30 people, and another in the Hospital Galdakao-Usansolo, with capacity for 16 people. These hospitals will provide “intensive and time-limited care” to young people with “severe psychiatric disorder”. The Basque Government has explained that it has two objectives: to promote health and to prevent mental disorders from becoming chronic. Being a day centre, they have assured that “it allows patients to adapt to normal life” and that it avoids hospitalizations.
As explained, psychiatric care for childhood and adolescence in the CAV will be "strengthened" with the resources that have been incorporated in recent weeks. They have pointed out that a new centre of attention has recently been set up in Saralegi (Bizkaia), which has 15 seats, in the Basque village. In addition, in Vitoria-Gasteiz there is a centre of ten places of child-juvenile mental health and in Donostia-San Sebastián a unit for fourteen early care people.
