ELA reports that Osakidetza wants to reduce the number of beds and staff in the Mental Health network of Álava. Public authorities have expressed their willingness to make changes to "improve specialisation and efficiency". Among these changes is the decrease of rehabilitation beds, the expansion of the most subchronic beds.
ELA says that, however, Osakidetza wants to make changes "without strengthening the community level", that is, without increasing resources in day centres and day hospitals, among others. This would increase the number of consultations and saturate the network in out-of-hospital rehabilitation centers.
The union denounces that these changes, in addition to reducing beds and professionals, require workers to move and that the "formal conditions" for these changes are not met. He explains that Osakidetza wanted workers to choose their new destination via Whatsapp as soon as possible and without knowing the working conditions.
"Osakidetza wants to reorganize the network, but that change would destroy the network," he said. She stresses that Osakidetza is cutting in Mental Health and precarizing working conditions. "All this has a negative impact on the attention to citizenship."
