One citizen reported to Ararteko the disproportion between the average grade of the Baccalaureate students of both schools and the University Access Assessment (USE) note. After analyzing the case, Ararteko came to the following question: "How is it possible that two centers in Navarre could get the best Bachelor's Degree grades for six years and not happen the same with USE grades? ".
According to the Ararteko study, in general, the Baccalaureate grades in the centers of Navarra are better than those of USE, with an average difference of 0.58 points. At Miravalles-El Redín School, however, it reaches an improvement of 1.18-1.32 points, double and almost triple that in other centers.
It should be taken into account that the average grade of Baccalaureate (60%) and USE (40%) are taken into account to access the public university, so the excess of Baccalaureate causes differences in the equal rights of access to university.
In the six courses studied in El Redín, their students always get the best grades between 8.2 and 8.59. In the case of EUS-FNA, on the contrary, they have only managed to be as high as one course, while in the other courses, for example, they have remained in 3rd, 4th or 10th place. In one of them ranked 18 in USE, with a score of 7.03 and in Baccalaureate it gets 8.5, that is, 1.5 more points.
A similar situation also exists in Irabia/Izaga. In the Baccalaureate grades, students stay in second place, with grades between 7.75 and 8.45. On the other hand, USE results are always below 7th. In general, USE notes range between 6.3 and 7.4.
Education discourages recommendation
In the light of these data, Ararteko requested the inspection of the activity of both centers in the letter sent in February to the Department of Education of the Government of Navarra. Education counselor Carlos Gimeno answered in March saying he already inspects these centers, always respecting their autonomy, so he will not listen to Ararteko's recommendation.
In view of the answer, a debate arises between Ararteko and the Department of Education. Ararteko has asked the counselor to report in more detail the inspection that the Ministry of Education has carried out in these centers over the past six years. Education has not yet responded and Ararteko has insistently asked the counselor for a second answer. So the ball is right now in the Department of Education.
