“Every week the menu will change and the food that will be given will be seasonal, close and ecological,” explains Maider Ondarra, one of the project’s drivers. You will be accompanied by José Javier Osés “Jotas” and the cook Daniel Fernández.
The two members of the cooperative were already working on food sovereignty and the transforming social economy of the hand of Udalbiltza and Olatukoop, and they intend to create a new tool to transform society through consumption. The project being developed will be launched in October, to begin with, in three municipalities: Unx, Tafalla and Burlada. How will the weekly menus work? Sixteen different boats will be built each week, dividing the week into two groups: Monday to Monday-Wednesday and the block from Thursday to Friday and Saturday.
It will be cooked twice a week and there will be packaging collection points in the three municipalities: those of the first block on Sunday from 18:00 and those of the second on Wednesday from 18:00. The packaging of vegetables and legumes will be four euros, and the meat and fish will be six euros. “All the benefits of Ondalankoop will go to projects that work for sovereignty,” Ondarra explained.
OndalanKoop members are running a fundraising campaign on the Itsulapikoa platform, which will be used to pay for the necessary machinery in the kitchen. “At first we had people eating outside the house in mind, but we quickly realized that there are a lot of people interested in this: older people, with little time to cook and with children, workshop workers…”.
However, the project relates not only to comfort, but also to the right to eat well. They claim that the right to eat well should be of all and for that they are also working: they are in contact with the social services of different peoples, and their aim is also to bring the dishes packed by OndalanKoop to the people who need it. Public participation and participation will be essential for the sustainability of the project. For more information and to contribute to the project ondalankoop.eus they have created the website.
