Zulueta offers in store bulk products and, as far as possible, proximity and ecological products. Clean, clothes, personal toilet and air soft drinks.
Zulueta has spent her whole life as a hairdresser and there arose for the first time concern about the usual products of her activity: “She always tried to use the most sustainable products possible and was interested in that world.” When an illness caused him mobility problems, he thought about changing his life and starting a sustainable consumption project: “We could greatly reduce the consumption of cleaning products, because actually not so many products are needed to clean the home.”
Secondly, bermeotarra has focused on excessive and unnecessary use of plastic: “In the store we have reusable packaging and most products are granules”. Thirdly, it has focused on the origin and characteristics of cleaning products and, although not easy, offers in the store products from nearby producers such as “I am in contact with a project producing creams in Otxandio”. On the other hand, all the products in the store are organic. “Typical products are detergents with fewer chemicals, as they carry many stools.”
In the consumption of detergents in general, Zulueta continues to have little awareness, more than in the natural ingredients, because more importance is given to other characteristics: “If a shampoo gets little foam, or if a cleaning product does not have a floral odor… it is difficult to use them. We have to turn all this around.” But, little by little, he believes that more and more attention is being paid to him, proof of this is the positive response he is receiving from people: “Many people are coming to the store, to see what is there, to ask… and sales are going well.”
The project has a short trajectory and will be gradually incorporated. Zulueta’s idea, in addition to the shop offer, is to organize small workshops and workshops: “With bicarbonate and vinegar you can clean almost everything, as we will learn in these workshops”.
