Journalist Oliver Dubois disappeared in Mali when he was reporting for Le Point Afrique and Liberation. The jihadist group closest to Al Qaeda has broadcast a video on social networks where kidnapping is collected. The 21-second video has been broadcast on Twitter, where the journalist claims to be kidnapped. He details that he has been kidnapped by the Islamic and Muslim Group (Jnim in Arabic) and addresses his family, friends and authorities, demanding that they do their best to secure his freedom.
The authorities say, however, that the video is in the verification base, according to the French magazine Le Point, that RSF Reporters Without Borders knew about the disappearance of the organization but decided not to disseminate anything so as not to interfere in liberation efforts. Fighting between communities and attacks by smaller groups related to Al Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS) have multiplied in Mali. The Islamist group began its offensive in 2012 in northern Mali and the conflict situation has also spread to Burkina Faso and Niger.
