Paid work is at the heart of our lives. We are hours and hours for others, more than enough. Although it shapes our lives, we accept it. Not recoverable time.
The spectator finds on stage a daily situation, a working day. They introduce us to the warehouse of the company manufacturer of iron rods and mast. The protagonist is the keeper, the sole keeper of the warehouse. However, in the next five days the company will be carried out by a young person, the time it takes to retire and give the witness. The author has placed two characters in the same space, each of them more distinct. Old worker with quite conservative and methodical thinking and functioning and new worker who is engaged in mixing corners, who cares more or less about laws and precepts and who is left with energy.
The unification of these personalities has necessarily provoked humor in the public and the clash between them. Time and space are the only ones they have in common. As the company produces little, the talks between the two are the only thing that happens. There are hardly any actions or movements, but the truth is that it asks no more. In this play, text is very important and silences are also important. They have given time and presence the place it deserves, imagining that slavery takes place in different ways and putting the burden on all the lives of the working class in view. I'm sure the viewer has felt sadness, nostalgia and anguish in feeling that our lives are going on like on stage. In a society in which we believe that going to work is as normal as eating, at least who has managed to get the criticism behind humor understood.
However, I would say that it lacks depth. This work by Catalan playwright David Desole received the Hermanos Machado award in 2003. His style is to make humor and drama, and he has placed it in those genres as well. At the same time, criticity is another characteristic attributed to the writer, so I approached the theater. The synopsis presented by Txalo gave me the same promise, because I read “the awareness of the losers” and “that this ingenious and acidic comedy reflects on exploitation and capitalism in the labor world.” I was shocked by this prejudice, but it has kept the promises half-hearted. It's critical, you can see the effort and the intention, the same idea is a critical starting point, but it doesn't go inside. I feel that the story has focused on the character of the characters, highlighting the humanistic sense. It is clear that the characters are not masters of their condition, but the public would need it and the effort to do so has been overwhelmed. It is about how far the farm is to be exploited. Don't look at the time burglars, it's many seven minutes.
