The British are behind the sabotages against the ‘Nord Stream’ pipes, says Russia
- According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, on 26 September a British navy unit took part in attacks on Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gases. The UK Government denies Russia's "false accusations".
Kremlina says the UK is behind the "terrorist attack" on Nord Stream gases. In its telegram message, the Russian Ministry of Defence explains that a British navy unit participated in the sabotage. It even says that the same unit has been involved in attacks on Russian ships in the Black Sea, in Sevastopol, helping Ukrainians with drones.
Indeed, these latest attacks have led Russia to move away from the ‘safe corridor’ agreement for the transport of cereals and crops and to suspend the agreement. Ukraine accuses Russia of using these attacks as an "excuse".
In the case of sabotegues against Nord Stream gas pipes, the Russian Defense Ministry has explained that British army members participated in the "planning, organization and implementation" of the attack, but has not offered evidence to ensure it. On 26 September, the explosion of the gases Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 led to the emission of thousands of tonnes of natural gas into the Baltic Sea and the loss of availability of these key energy sources for many European countries.
The UK Defence Ministry, for its part, has considered Russia's "false accusations" as "fiction".
