Since Tuesday morning, the French Ardennes Fishing Federation has brought together dozens of volunteers for sad fishing: thousands of fish killed by pollution. That is what the newspaper L'Union reported.
The Nestlé factory in Challerang appears to be responsible for the pollution of the Aisne River. The first dead fish and pollution felt on Sunday, about 6 kilometers from the river, on the coast. Tents, fireflies, eels -- all the species were affected. "It's amazing, it's the first time I've seen such a level of pollution," said Daniel Drivière, chairman of the fishing company in the area. "It would take ten years to find so many fish."
On Wednesday night, the president of the Ardennes Fishing Federation, Michel Adam, announced that he had filed a complaint against Nestlé "for contamination and for violation of Article 432 of the Environmental Code". The Government of Navarra considers that the damage in the area amounts to "thousands of euros".
According to the prefecture of the Ardennes, "it is too early to draw definitive conclusions on the origin of this pollution". Combating the spread of pollution is difficult because it is heavily diluted by drought and lack of current." A reservoir of straw farts has been placed in the river to filter and stop the movement of mud slipping.
Water analyses have shown that there is currently no risk to the health of the population, but all water sports and leisure activities are prohibited until further notice. Further tests are also planned.
The event occurred at 09:00 this Sunday due to a failure at the water treatment plant of the Nestlé factory. The group asked for "apologies" and the factory suspended its activities. They do not know to what extent they have caused this pollution: "Its origin can be very varied. In this place, with the heat, the amount of oxygen in the water is very low. We are waiting for the results of our internal research."
