The unions LAB, Afapna, CCOO, ELA and UGT have called for a strike in the civil service of Navarre this Wednesday to demand, among other things, the renewal of the Civil Service Statute and the reduction of temporary employment. The continuity has been different according to the sector, so that the strike has been more successful in education, but not so much in Health or among the public administration workers – 4.8% and 13.8%, respectively, according to the Government of Navarre.
The unions denounce that the minimum services established by the Government of Navarre have been "abusive" in many sectors, which has had a significant impact on the follow-up. Thus, in some areas of Health, the minimum services have been 80% and in some cases 100%: "It is difficult for public employees to strike in many sectors," Unai Alava of CCOO told Radio Euskalerria.
At noon the strikers gathered in front of the Palace of Navarre in Pamplona, but the most popular demonstration took place in the afternoon and gathered hundreds of people from the Paseo de Sarasate in Pamplona. In the end, the LAB representative, Iosu Arraiza, said that they are "ready" to continue mobilizing.
The unions denounce that they have not made progress in the renewal of the Civil Service Statute for a year and that the Civil Service Councillor of the Government of Navarre, Amparo López, has been responsible for this situation: "He has tried to boycott the process in every possible way and to ruin all our work," they denounce.
