We already know that. We often have to renew and remember things we know. A study that was published last year now comes to me. This is an investigation that has lasted for 30 years. They wanted to show one thing that was obvious to researchers. In his view, it is clear that people living in large cities and in urban settings often have more psychological problems. It is not clear what the reasons are and what they wanted to clarify. The head lap occurred in 1985. They wanted to clarify one question: Does the closeness of nature or the green environment influence mental health?
The investigation has been carried out in Denmark. The whole country was divided into five areas: capital, the surrounding capital, the rest of the cities, towns and rural centres. The result is the one expected and the full input they wrote when they published the study is worth: “Growth in urban settings is associated with the risk of psychiatric disorders, but the mechanisms behind it are unknown. Green areas can generate mental health benefits and can reduce the risk of psychiatric disorders. This national study, carried out on more than 900,000 people, shows that the psychiatric risk of children who have grown up with a lower level of green is 55% higher, and the effects of other risk factors are independent. The relationship between the green areas of childhood and the risk is stronger, demonstrating the importance of the prolonged presence of green areas in the environment. Our findings show that the integration of natural environments into urban planning is a hopeful point of view for improving mental health and reducing the global burden of growing psychiatric disorders worldwide.”
Smaller studies have shown that lack of green spaces increases the risk of mood or mood disorders, schizophrenia, and that it can also influence knowledge and cognitive development.
On the research of the Danes, Kelly Lambert, a neuroscientist, also said: “It suggests that action as simple as improving urbanism can have a huge impact on the health and well-being of all of us.”
We know, and research says: children who grow up surrounded by nature become happier adults. Orchard, garden, fruit, forest or whatever you want, but surround yourself with plants and nature, if you want to be natural.
