Doubts, at first, dominated them. What the hell is that movement that claims cheap inequality? Probably some beaufs promoted by the tip of the right hand or a large inux. Sexist and homophobic attitudes have been heard and seen here. Elsewhere, migrants have been held and made available to the police. News is being disseminated from co-players. Suspect! There was no organization, there were no representatives, the spokespeople began to scream. It cannot last.
Anger and frustration, sometimes. Many of those chaquetons who speak in the media, not young people, recognise that they are participating for the first time in a demonstration! But was all those people in the last decade, where many social struggles have taken place, in defense of portraits, against labor law or against others? They intend to liberate all parties, trade unions and organised movements. Well, there will be no shortage of reasons for mistrust, but criticism is unfair to those who for years have mobilised against the system and to denounce oppression. In the last spring, coinciding with the anniversary of the 1968, with rapid mobilizations in different sectors of society (railways, hospitals, universities…) and with a long denunciation of Macron’s policy in favour of the rich, the chance of a general social movement was mentioned. It was not created. The unions used old-fashioned demobilization tactics and the summer break dispersed the energies.
Movement again
Absolute awe. The mobilisation, which lasts week after week, has succeeded in overcoming what no one expected, the deadly time of the weekend holiday. The initial virtual Facebook movement has become a broad social movement. The Sundaks of Opinion say that most public opinion continues to be sustained, despite violent episodes. As is essential for any social movement, this unprecedented movement gathers heterocyte pieces of other struggles or times to build a collective imaginary: the French revolution and the Marsellés, some slogans of the unions, the songs of Johnny, without forgetting the unforgettable invention: the invisible in the public space and in the political debate… The tactic of blockade, the permanent occupation of spaces, the barracks and the action. As a whole new movement, it doesn't have a bitter memory of the failure of struggles, like many others. The conviction that it is possible to win is the biggest weapon when it comes to entering the fight and staying. There is a big difference with those who have fought behind the unions and have suffered so many mistakes, and with those who have come up with a new government bill, people are moving without believing.
Admiration, too. Having regard to the determination, the commitment of some people during the day and night. The government has been thrown against the wall and the praise for smell has not worked, they have not managed to demobilize the movement. The initial incentive element, the rate of inequality, given in the background and instead of being in the defensive struggle, the movement has moved on to the offensive, leaving aside the issue of social and fiscal justice. Democratic representation and the functioning of the institutions have also reached the centre of the city, giving a political touch to the struggle.
Answer: police violence
Solidarity as not! The political impossibility of the Government has opened the way to repression. Mass arrests have never been seen (6,500). Judicial proceedings and imprisonment (the past 153) have broken all brands. At the same time, police violence has skyrocketed with a spike that has caused serious injuries, maimed for life and errors. For a long time, the main media have mentioned only violent actions and broken lungs of protesters, causing people’s legitimate outrage, but in the end, being such a broad and general phenomenon (200 open procedures), they have been forced to address the issue successively.
With all these feelings and reflections on the head, we have not always been allowed to participate in the mobilizations of these jackets, but, as in many other places, convergences with ecological or trade union dynamics have also emerged in Iparralde. The future of the movement cannot be predicted by anyone. We've been paying attention to our assurances by putting ourselves in our pockets.
