The facts have been denounced by several students from the UPV/EHU. One of the teachers has been accused of harassing and harassing students through social networks and sexual proposals. The second is due to inadequate attitudes in the classroom and sexist comments. As for the third, students claim that they have been expelled for similar reasons, but that they have returned to teach the center with the same behaviors. The students sat in front of the conservatory on Tuesday morning when they denounced the assaults.
The Inspectorate of the Department of Education of the Government of Navarra has initiated proceedings against two teachers for an alleged denunciation of sexual abuse by two teachers.
As a precautionary measure, the Department of Education has prevented the teaching of the professor of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Navarra who is accused of making sexual proposals. The defendant was suspended cautiously on 22 November and will not return to the centre until the Police settles the procedure, the Basque Department of Security reported. A student filed a complaint against the same teacher in the police in March for a sex offense, but until October no action has been taken against him and during that time the students have denounced that the teacher has continued to teach the young woman who reported to him, some individually, according to EiTB.
An investigation of the second teacher has also been opened, since at least six students presented a formal complaint to the management to denounce the sexist comments they have suffered in class. "In front of the class, this teacher makes comments like: 'This student puts that neckline so I can look at my breasts', or 'this nice student could be my girlfriend...', the students report. Since the writing was presented, the teacher is down, but the students have put on the table that their behavior deserves disciplinary measures. However, the management of the Conservatory has informed the students that other penalties cannot be applied while they are on leave. In this context, another 120 students have supported the writing of their peers and colleagues.
Students have also denounced a third teacher. In his view, "a few years ago due to similar causes" he stopped teaching in the conservatory, but they went back to work and they continue to make machista comments. The address indicated that the latter case was not known and therefore its whereabouts are unknown.
"Locked in class with the aggressors"
The students have sat down this Tuesday in front of the Conservatory's door to denounce that they are "locked in class with the aggressors", with the aim of "creating change and giving voice to those who suffer in silence". The representatives of the pupils who have spoken have stressed that what has for years been "an obvious secret" has now been publicly denounced. The management of the Conservatory has expressed its appreciation for the measures taken, but has called for them to be "effective" and "effective". "The goal is not to suffer these women again. It is not acceptable for the aggressor to be expelled for a while and to come back afterwards," they said.
The director and management team of the Conservatory have sat at the table to show their support to the students. "They have not been hidden under the carpet [cases] because they are not admissible," said its director, Arantza Lorenzo de Reizabal. He explained that since they took office in March this year they have been "responsible" and have taken action, and that they have renewed the internal protocols.
