The presentation of the designation of Cultural Interest will be attended by the Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth, Ana Herrera, the bertsolari Julio Soto, the researcher Alfredo Asiain and the representative of the Bertsozale Association of Navarre, Getaral Agote.
On 6 June, the Government of Navarre declared bertsolarismo a cultural asset in the category of intangible heritage. “Transmission seems to be guaranteed thanks to the actions that have been implemented so far through the schools and is linked to the evolution of the language as well as its use and presence in society,” said Herrera.
It has been very well preserved in Navarre and has the greatest presence in the north of Navarre, where the Basque language has had the greatest vitality.
In the field of intangible heritage, bertsolarismo is the sixth Asset of Cultural Interest approved by Navarre. Previously, the Carnaval de Lanza, the Carnival of Ituren and Zubieta, the Tribute to the Three Cows, the Volante de Luzaide and the Dance of the Palo de Cortés have received the highest level of protection that the immaterial heritage can have in the country.
