A third of the world economy will enter recession this year, according to the International Monetary Fund
- The director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, has warned that this year will be "harder" than last year on American television CBS. Even outside countries that will not be in recession, hundreds of millions of people will suffer damage.
Kristalina Georgieva, leader of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), warned that 2023 will be “harder” economically than last year. They foresee a recession of one third of the world economy.
Georgieva explained that one of the main factors is that EE.UU. EU and China are simultaneously slowing economic growth. As pointed out on Sunday in the US CBS chain, EE.UU. expects to be able to cope with the recession “despite the difficulties”, but this will not be the case in the case of half the European Union’s economy, and believes that China will do so even further “behind”.

The IMF plans to reduce the world economy by at least 2.7 per cent. In 2021 it slowed by 6% and last year by 3.2%.
The president of the IMF has announced that the consequences of the recession of these economies will be global and will affect hundreds of millions of people in other countries.
It has also appreciated the opportunity to take advantage of the situation for economic transformation and to promote action in the face of the climate emergency.
