Mintzalasai has prepared a programme to speak in Basque for a week in Baiona and Biarritz
- The Mintzalasai group has, for the twelfth time, prepared a seven-day programme for Baiona, Biarritz and Anglet. It will be from 18 to 24 September. The objective is that Euskaldunes have spaces to communicate in Euskera, as well as to bring together those who do not know Euskera.
Oihana Zanponi is co-chair of the Mintzalasai group, and in statements by Euskal Irratia he said that the team is very happy because another year they will propose a lot of actions, innovative things and other typical things. Explains the objective of the one-week actions: “We are there again to show that the Basques are there, to give visibility to the Basque and to develop activities in Euskera.” Among the novelties is the realization of activities within the school hours of children.
The Basque Public Entity EPE has reduced the subsidy to Mintzalasai. On the contrary, they continue to subsidize the houses of the people. Manu Torre, a Basque technician from Baiona, told Euskal Irratia: “The aim is to organise an initiative between the houses of the two villages [Baiona and Biarritz], the funding of which is provided by both.”
50 activities and 20 points in Baiona and Biarritz
30 associations participate in a working week and 70 collaborators. From Monday to Sunday, each day addresses a theme through different activities. Monday, sports day; Tuesday, reflection day; Wednesday, children's shift; Thursday, cooking day; Friday, dedicated to culture. On Saturday the Glissegun will be held and on Sunday there will be a festive atmosphere at Marion Lake Biarritz.
