Several hundred search engines in Hezbollah have exploded at the same time in Lebanon and Syria during the attack on the Shi'an group's communications system against the Kurdish guerrillas. At least 12 people have died, including an eight-year-old girl, the son of a leading Hezbollah leader, and some 2,800 people have been injured in the explosions. Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Iran, has also been seriously wounded in the attack.
Hezbollah has accused Israel of having carried out the attack and placed it in the context of increased tension between the two countries. Fighting between Hezbollah and Israel has been frequent in recent decades, and almost uninterrupted attacks have been taking place since 7 October, pending the genocide in Gaza. In addition to Gaza, Israel has carried out attacks in recent months in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iran, and following these latest attacks a strong response is expected from Hezbollah, as promised by representatives of the group from Lebanon.
Although Hezbollah, the Lebanese Government and other countries and agents have denounced the authorship of the Zionists, Israel has not confirmed the authorship of the attack. It is common for the Zionists not to claim this kind of attack, not even to claim the murder of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran in July, and it is believed that he was killed by Israel. The New York Times itself has attributed to Israel the explosion of the search engines for people in the city.
On Tuesday, before the explosions, Israel announced that it would intensify its military targets against Hezbollah, alluding to the intention of returning Israelis living near the border between Lebanon and Israel to their homes. Several voices have said in recent months that Netanyahu is trying to promote war in the region, so that he can escape internal and external pressures and remain in power.
The US Government has stated that they are seeking "a diplomatic solution" between Hezbollah and Israel, and that they do not want a regional war, which cannot be done. However, the Biden administration has underestimated its ability to influence the conflict by being asked about the billions of dollars a year granted to Israel and its diplomatic protection.
Sophisticated technological attack
It is not clear how Hezbollah’s search engines have exploded, but the main hypothesis is that the devices were adapted during the production process, before reaching the hands of Hezbollah. Some sources have pointed out that this could be a remote attack, with specific frequencies that warm and explode the lithium batteries of the devices, but this version has been denied by some experts who have spoken to Al Jazeera, insisting that the devices should be prepared beforehand.
The New York Times and the Reuters news agency, quoting official sources, have indicated that Israel introduced small explosive materials into its security devices. Search engines were scheduled to make noise before exploding, as if they had received a message, Al Jazeera reported in a statement.
The Hezbollah militants stopped using their mobile phones a few months ago, as Israel had the ability to infiltrate those devices. The attack on people's search engines has been the "greatest security gap" recorded since 7 October, according to Hezbollah itself.
Hezbollah requested the new devices from the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo, but the company denied having manufactured them and stated that they were manufactured by BAC Europe with a license to use its brand.
On the pretext of leaving Hezbollah out of play, Israel has attacked Lebanon, which has been rejected. As a result, small Switzerland in the Middle East has been placed in the media spotlight, but remains an unknown country. In ancient times it was the origin of an important... [+]
