Thousands of children, young people and adults meet on Sunday in Ondarroa at the festival of ikastolas. This has been the Ibilaldi XE, and throughout the day there have been numerous activities such as music, dance and games. The Ikastola Zubi Zahar has been the organizer and the representatives have made a positive balance, highlighting the pleasant atmosphere. The exams have been accompanied by students, teachers and parents of Euskaraz, so that the students of the continental Basque Country can disseminate their opinions in Ondarroa.

The professor of ikastola Eider Aldarondo stressed the importance of ikastolas: “The fact that our ikastola is alive allows children from Iparralde and Navarra to learn Basque.” Remember that from the beginning the ikastola defends a Basque educational system for the entire Basque Country: “Unfortunately, today there are also places where it is not possible to learn Euskera, and we want our children to grow and be educated in both Ondarroa and Itsasun, Altsasu or Aloz, Orereta or Etxarri-Aranatz, Donapaule and Oyón.”

Representatives of public institutions have also been present, including the Education Advisor of the Basque Government, Jokin Bildarratz, who explained that the Basque Country is “very healthy” in and around Ondarroa, but that the situation “a few kilometers away” is completely different. In fact, the organizers wanted to emphasize that Ondarroa is “a people with its own Basque” and they wanted to make this people visible in Ibilaldi TEMA.

The organization of the 2024 Ibilaldia will be run by the Ikastola San Nicolás de Algorta and have already taken the witness to start preparing the festival of support for the ikastolas.
