Last week, the managers of the Paris 365 dining room announced that they would stop providing night service. More and more users are piling up at the dining room door at dusk and problems have also occurred. The Paris 365 Foundation has expressed the need to make a stop and in the meantime it will begin a process of reflection.
Dinner will be distributed in tupers to those who come to the service at noon. The number of users has increased significantly in recent times and the situation of those approaching has also worsened, said Mikel Urabaien, head of communications. The concerns of the residents of San Lorenzo and the surrounding streets and those responsible for the foundation have increased.
The City Council of Pamplona, the Government of Navarre and even the State Government have been asked to take measures and resources, such as expediting census procedures, reducing the deadlines for access to papers and/or directing more assistance to people in vulnerable situations. Paris 365 warns that if no action is taken, the situation will worsen in the short term.
Another of the main concerns is the serious problem of unaccompanied minors who, after leaving the reception centres and reaching the age of six months, do not have papers, work or other economic means of subsistence and find themselves on the street.
It is predicted that the temporary dining room will be closed for 4-6 weeks. Breakfast and lunch breaks will continue. Once this stage has been completed, the standard service will be offered again. It is also announced that they will start the process of reflection, both with the institutions and with the neighbors, in search of solutions to be able to provide service in the future.
In Irrintzi Plaza we spoke with Mikel Urabaien, head of communications at the Paris 365 Foundation, about this difficult situation.
