Tubiana, who was the Secretary-General of the Human Rights League, was the honorary president of the entity. In recent years his activity has been largely linked to the Basque People, and Bakegile and Bake Bidean wanted to “salute and pay tribute to him”: “With the Human Rights League we want to pay tribute to the struggle that has led to all injustices, a man committed to the peace of Euskal Herria”.
Tubiana has given a “decisive and forceful” impulse to the “peace process in the Basque Country”, according to both institutions. The man born in Algiers in 1952 has been “a participant in all important events” since the Aiete conference. Among other things, he was a member of the Basque Country delegation which speaks with the French Government and participated directly in the Luhuso disarmament action of December 2016. Since then, they have explained that “Miguel worked with the Camino de la Paz and with the Pacifists to solve the problem of Basque political prisoners and strengthen the peace process”.

Tubiana’s contribution to Euskal Herria is “historic”, according to Bake Bidea and Bakegile. Both initiatives have also recalled the deaths in recent months, Mixel Berhokoirigoin and Mixel Bergouignan: “After Mixel Berhokoirigoin and Mixel Bergouignan, we lost another travel companion. The loss is enormous, but what they have done will help us chart the way to a world of freedom and democracy for future generations.”
