The agreement linked to the quota has been signed between the Basque Government and the Spanish Government for the next five years and, consequently, the PNV will support the Spanish Budgets. The decision has been criticized by most of the opposition parties, but the socialists have seen it well.
The PSE-EE Executive Committee has stated that the party’s bet is “self-government based on the agreement with the rest of the communities” and has assured that the quota agreement will consolidate this bet.
Idoia Mendia points out that with the solution of the quota, one of the objectives set by the PNV and the PSE-EE in the government agreement has been met: to resolve the “historical disagreement” between the governments. It ensures that it will pave the way for further agreements in the future.
