Minaberri has left a thriving literary activity, especially for children. He wrote plays, novels, comics, and especially poems. In fact, the banker became popular when Osgertk sang 23 of his poems and released his album “Marijane kanta zan”.

In addition to his work as a writer, he worked in various activities. His first job was in his hometown, he was the secretary of the village house. In 1954 he worked as a teacher in Bayonne. In 1957 he worked as a journalist and secretary for the newspaper “Basque Eclair”, and later worked in the same activities as “Sud Ouest”. In addition to the press, he also worked on several radio stations.

He was born on September 7, 1926 in Banka. He studied in his hometown, Donapaleu and Anglet. When she was about to get her bachiller certificate, her mother became ill and so the formal studies for Minaberria ended.

He was also a pilot. He had three sisters and in Banka they played the ball in the square next to the house, at a time when the girls did not play the ball.

A tribute in the spring

The Sareinak group, which links feminism and literature, and the Euskara association Adur de Aldude, Urepele and Banka, were to pay tribute to Marijane Minaberria this month. The organizers indicate that the date was finally postponed and abandoned for May-June. They have shown sorrow: “Although he knew that he would not come to the homage, his relatives would give him the recognition of those of us who have known his work. It’s a shame, as it often happens, that we’re going to pay him homage.”
