To reflect on the ethical and political aspects of journalism, the starting point of the two-day programming organized by the UPV/EHU Summer Courses from the work of Mariano Ferrer. For this purpose, in addition to the work of journalist carried out by Ferrer, the bases on which he worked as a professional and his methodology will be analyzed.
The course directed by the Doctor of Social Anthropology Txemi Apaolaza and the retired professor of the UPV/EHU is aimed at a broad audience, from university students to journals, as well as the general public interested in the topics discussed.
Within the program that will host the mornings of 22 and 23 June, different areas of Ferrer's work will be analyzed. Emeritus UPV professor Ramón Zallo will analyze how she selected and dealt with sources of information, and UPV professor and journalist Txema Ramírez de la Piscina will talk about Ferrer's political journalism; emeritus professor Pedro Ibarra of the UPV will offer a look at the political sciences.
In addition to academic perspectives, the course will be attended by professionals from the information world. For example, Pilar Kaltzada, Imanol Murua Uria, Leire Iturregi Mardaras and Txema Ramírez de la Piscina discuss what has changed and what continues in current journalism as in previous times.
On the second day of the course, Maitane Arnoso Martínez of the UPV will talk about Ferrer’s relationship with the new social movements. The director of the newspaper Martxelo Otamendi Berria will offer a conference entitled “Mariano Ferrer, journalist teacher”.
At the end of the course, the word Bernardo Atxaga and Elixabete Garmendia Lasa will be taken. Asteasu’s writer will offer the conference “What Mariano Ferrer did for culture and coexistence.” On the other hand, Garmendia, from the contents worked in the course, will give a two-day evening.
The course will be held at the Miramar Palace in Donostia and the two-day tuition fee is EUR 56.
