María Chivite is appointed for the second time president of Navarra
- Thanks to the abstention of EH Bildu, María Chivite, candidate for the PSN, has been re-appointed president in a session without surprises.
On 15 August, María Chivite was appointed President of the Foral Parliament of Navarre at the summer holiday, after lengthening the negotiations "more than expected". To this end, the PSN candidate had the abstention of EH Bildu, and was elected by a single simple majority vote.
Thus, Chivit will have the opportunity to form a tripartite Foral Government four years ago, with the representative of the PSN parties, Geroa Bai and Gauzatu-Tú, but the votes of EH Bildu will be essential for the adoption of progressive laws.
On the other side are UPN, PP and Vox, because the sum of the three does not give them sufficient guarantees. UPN has maintained an aggressive attitude during the investiture session and seeks to hinder and delay the appointment of Chivite. In any case, Cintruénigo’s politician will be president until 2027. Take office this Thursday.
At the time of the vote, outside Parliament a group of citizens has met against the tree stems of the Gurutze square in Pamplona to express their opposition to the urban operation.
