In the interview held in Radio Bilbao, the mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, pointed out that in Bilbao there are “too many” demonstrations “every day” and proposed that they be done by the sidewalk “for the benefit of traffic”.
Aburto has argued that mobilizations “modify the quality of life of citizens” and said that “elsewhere or from the sidewalk” is possible: “Should we always cut the road? I think not. I want to ask that it be possible to demonstrate and, at the same time, not change people’s lives every day.” However, he wished to stress that “much” respects people’s right to meet and demonstrate in the face of any problems and does not oppose workers.
