Like last year, this year, because of the pandemic, the traditional Herri Urrats cannot be celebrated in Senpere. For this reason, SEASKA will hold 30 Herri Urrats in several locations in Zuberoa, Baja Navarra and Lapurdi. Each ikastola will organize its own program and although it will not be done as usual, the organizers have stressed that it is a festival of the Basque Country and the ikastolas of Euskal Herria.

It was considered necessary to organise the Herri Urrats for this year: “Seaska needs a fifth school,” the other schools are “overwhelmed” and are not able to accommodate all the students. In addition, the number of pupils is expected to increase by 30 per cent in the coming years.

However, they are aware that with this year’s holiday model they are not going to get the necessary funds for the new school and therefore SEASKA will continue with the boga campaign. This campaign is intended to raise a total of EUR 300,000.

Faced with the impossibility of many people approaching these festivals throughout Euskal Herria, the organizers have appealed to all Euskalzales to make a gesture in favour of Herri Urrats in their place and whatever they want.

In addition, they have released this year’s song by Herri Urrats “Baga Biga boga” and its video clip. The song and lyrics have been composed by the Xiberoots group in collaboration with the singer of Delirimun Tremens, Andoni Basterretxea.Los students of the Liceo Bernart Etxepare have created choreography “boga dantza! " and they have called to dance on 9 May in Moore Square.
