What never happened in May has happened: renewables have produced more electricity than fossil fuels. According to the Ember group, renewables account for 31% of energy and fossil fuels 27%. Sarah Brown, European leader of Ember, said: “Clean energy will keep breaking records.”
Photovoltaic energy has produced between 14% and 27 TWh of electricity, beating last year’s brand, and wind with 17% or 32 TWh, which has not hit the record but has had good production. In January the wind reached its peak with 54 TWh.
Fossil fuels are becoming less and less used as a source of electricity. Coal contains the smallest data ever, 10 percent. Gas production has also had the lowest production since 2018, with 15% production in May. The United Nations calls for this line to be followed to mitigate the effects of climate change.
In recent times we have had in the media Aitor Uriarte, representative of the renewable energy company Solaria, to pay tribute to the benefits of the macro-projects they want to carry out. In the case of the appearance of Radio Euskadi on May 28, I felt a deep shame of the... [+]
We met Victor Paco to talk about the E-CHO project, still too unknown. He is a well-known ecologist in the Northern Basque Country, who has been leading the CADE environmental partnership for years. At the end of last year, a new framework was opened for fighting him and other... [+]
Zygoitia is in shock. After the elections, they suddenly bring us to the table a macro-project of photovoltaic panels with the aim of covering the enormous extension of agricultural land. This project has now come to light, when those politicians who asked us for the vote have... [+]
On 19 March, in the Alondero room in Zestoa, we had an interesting round table on the energy transition organized by the community and renewable energy cooperative Argiola.
The round table was entitled “Energy transition, how?” and for this purpose the organizers invited... [+]
In an increasingly narrow interval between election campaigns, it should be remembered that we have entered the decisive years of the twenty-first century. To give just one example, scientists are terrified by the continual overcoming of ocean temperature records and no longer... [+]
