Veteran Quartet Leihotikan of Pamplona/Iruña replaced Nizuri Tazuneri on Saturday for his performance to heat engines on Friday. The Navarre Arena has been filled with people to encourage the atmosphere of those present, waiting for the arrival of Berri txarrak on stage. Both are Navarros and of the same time, and they have shared the stage on many occasions in rooms and in the smaller ones; hence the affinity, the reason for the invitation. In just an hour, the quartet has been fine, maintaining the philosophy of a punk rock group and claiming that Navarra is not Euskal Herria, that Euskal Herria is Navarra. Apart from its usual context, the jury has highlighted and thanked the work of the Lekunberri.
This last tour of Berri txarrak seemed unfinished. The rooms have been filled everywhere. The chaos in the face of the mass of the hobby, the access to the entrances has fallen into confusion, as the websites of sale have suffered strong collapses. In a few minutes the tickets for the last concert were exhausted and, after the success, the fact that it was set a second day did not soften the headaches, which went the same way. Thus, the poster sold out has remained for a year at the Palace of the Zarzuela.
Expectation, Friday's concert did not have the particularity of Saturday's. Being the “last” one could expect anything, and one could see the expectation among the people, as the highest level the Navarro team could offer would be put to the test. Several crews were counting again, watching the mobile time every moment and seeing the minutes move slower than ever before. It was a tension, a nervousness. And scarves: beside us were some dramatists who could no longer contain tears in the promotional video before the Berri txarrak concert. It seemed that something historical was coming upon us, and the historical thing has been to see in the early moments the Bad News of the previous decade. I don't want to, I'm not going to change, because they've played songs like Gelaneuria. A violent beginning, musically hard and, from your hand, poetic here and there.
The trio has presented a long list of songs well worked, preceded and postulated by common sense, so that the environment would not be damaged or monotonized. The most reassuring and dirtiest moments then follow, going from All Grips and the Single Polygraph, to The Word and Image and to The Best of our Decadence. Notable environmental changes that the general public has welcomed. Throughout the concert there has been a great interactivity between the group and the hobby, with twelve thousand people at the orders of a trio.
If something has hit the party, that is September. It's been an unexpected climax. In one of those quiet and emotional moments, in which each one emptied his bowels through nostalgia, Urbizu passed the warning to the technicians and put two bombs next to the battery. It seemed that they were going to repeat what they did in Kursaal, but instead of repeating it, they have overcome it. The confetti color party has exploded in the front lines, when the bass player and guitarist have started to rhythm with the bass drum. The concert had already given two-thirds and since then the atmosphere has become more unequal, more confusing, crazy.
Now is the time for old and known songs: The atheist God, Oreka or Biziraun are some of the names they have interpreted. Also Torture everywhere, which Urbizu has dedicated to a group of young people who accompanied us, as they carried a banner with the name of the song. It's been time to leave the throats, unless we've already left them. If it is not the most memorable time, it is one of the most memorable. Berri txarrak's performance during all these years has been put together in two songs: After singing Marvels solo by Urbizu, Aitor Goikoetxea, Aitor Oreja, Mikel López Rubio and the four have given way to their old colleagues and after many years they have shared the stage. They've played the two favorite songs of the time, Ikasten and Stereo, bringing the butterflies of Rubio into the air, as then. Emotions have fled in the act.
Some music lovers placed him at the exit as equal or better than Kortatu's Last War or Hertzainak's latest concert. It cannot be denied that this is a group that will remain in memory to see who has been able to cross the world and to bring so many people together. Urbizu says that the gap that remains for music lovers will go for them: “We will have your emptiness, the loneliness.”
The first time I met the Berri Txarrak group was on television. They asked about the things they read and mentioned my first book of poems. I felt pride and amazement at the same time. The first time I talked to Gorka Urbizu, we were at Onki Xin, and like no, we talked about... [+]
