Getaria Hospitality Association, Getabat, is investigating Leire’s Basque Authority in the belief that the price increase by the end of 2021 was agreed. The report was opened in May, as all the bars together raised the prices of the products.

According to the website of the Basque Loyalty Authority, the institution has initiated the investigation ex officio. However, El Diario reports that there has been an anonymous denunciation of a getaria that has harmed its regular customers.

They boycotted the bars, making sure they wouldn't consume them until the prices went down. Faced with this, Gebat said that the boycott caused an “unpleasant” situation: “Everyone is free to make their own demands, but in some cases we have been surprised by the way in which they make their claims.”

According to El Diario, the price increase is not greater than that made by bars in other localities, but the problem is that local accommodations – most, some were left out – are made jointly, thus violating competition, and that is what could be shown if the Basque Authority of Lea is a punitive irregularity.
