Eguzki locates three illegal landfills in Azkoitia
- The environmental group has reported three clandestine landfills on the banks of the Urola River, which are being analysed. One of them was collected and placed in the portico of the church in order to "raise awareness of the citizens".
Eguzki has denounced three illegal landfills on the margin of the Urola river in the Gipuzkoa locality of Azkoitia, Gipuzkoa. Most of the waste was concentrated in the viaduct of the GI-2634 road linking Azkoitia with Azpeitia or in the slopes leading to the river, but also in the urban area, specifically in Ugarte Street, very close to the containers.
The environmental group has collected these waste, which was dispersed, so that the extent of garbage accumulation is made clearer. In early summer he made his first collection in the polygon Juan Txiki, on a hillside leading to Urola, and his remains were exposed in the portico of the church.
He said, three months later, "this slope is once again filled with waste, with an even higher slope. Most of the waste is plastic, but there's everything and there's also a washing machine."
Eguzki pointed out that if the dumping of waste at the margins is detrimental, it is much worse to do so at the margins of the rivers because "the water will be more polluted and will also reach the sea in a not too long time".
He recalled that citizens "scared" the presence in the ocean of a "set of plastics that have the same surface as an accountant", but there is no relationship between that image and "everyday practices".
