Organized by the Association of Household Employees ATH-ELE, on Wednesday a concentration was held at the doors of the Basque Government’s headquarters in Bilbao to request the closure of Darucama. They have denounced that Darucama is a false cooperative that captures people in search of employment through job offers on the Internet and that promises job stability if they sign up as a cooperative. The worker who accepts the conditions, they ask for the digital certificate DZfn, and once in their hands the company discharges the workers as self-employed. In other words, it makes them false self-employed without consulting the workers.
In this process, workers lose their rights: minimum wage, maximum working hours of 40 hours a week, breaks... not few, and according to ATH-ELE, the company threatens to denounce the abandonment of the people they are caring for. "The shot is that they leave the last month of work unpaid," the association says.
Darucama, together with the company Cruz Azul, forms a network of fraud for workers, whose founding statutes collect the names of the people behind Darucam, based in Valencia, but who operate in different parts of the Spanish state. ATH-ELE has defined Cruz Azul as a "pirate care service company", and as can be read El Salton, its mission is to capture the families that need care services. Once Cruz Azul has achieved customers, they are offered the service of Darucam staff. Jaqueline Amaya, a member of the Seville Household Workers Association (Andalusia), explains in El Salton that mediators are left with much of what service claimants pay: "In some cases, the worker receives a monthly salary of 800 euros while the family pays 3,000 euros." And not only that: they hinder the dismissal of customers who have hired the service, but also the hiring of the service without mediation.
There are several workers who have gone through Darucama and have denounced the experience there. Consequently, as highlighted in the letter sent to the Spanish Ministry of Labour on 7 November by various groups of domestic employees of the Spanish State, the Labour Inspectorate is aware of the fraud. According to ATH-ELE, the Labour Inspectorate has for over a year in its resolutions saying that the Darucama cooperative is false. However, they have denounced that they are still in progress and deceiving the workers, and during the meeting they have carried the test at the service of the labour reconcilations of Bizkaia: the Darucam employment contract on 30 November.
Agents Argilan ESK, Argitan, Berri-Otxoak, CNT, ELA, EMF-Sociosanitary Feministalde, Kakaki, LAB, Women of the World Babel, Steilas and Non-Domesticated Workers have also joined the meeting.
