The late 29-year-old trapezist worked since the beginning of the confinement in circus II Circo Italiano de Beasain.
According to the Basque Department of Safety, the accident occurred last Monday, when the worker was training. The man fell from the height and the blow caused severe damage to his head, according to the same sources. The young man was taken to the Donostia Hospital in San Sebastian, where he died shortly after 3 a.m.
The Ertzaintza has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances in which the event occurred.
More accidents at work
The Beasain accident is not the only fatal occupational accident that has been recorded this week in the Basque Country. On Wednesday afternoon a 38-year-old worker died in the Port of Bilbao after being hit by a large piece.
On Wednesday morning, another Azkoitia worker was seriously injured in a work accident in the Gipuzkoan locality. The operator, 51, fell from a height of four meters while installing a cable in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
