The ELA and LAB trade unions have criticised the pre-agreement reached by the CCOO and UGT trade unions and the employers' association for the cleaning agreement, which has forced the strike planned for next Tuesday to be shut down. In his view, the agreement "does not meet any of the objectives pursued". Despite the suspension of the strike, they went out to the streets to protest: "They've sold us," they've reported.
On the contrary, the UGT trade union has defended the agreement by considering it "good" and "according to the demands" that were transferred to the negotiating table.
LAB criticized in a statement that CCOO and UGT reached an agreement with the employers at a negotiating meeting convened a few hours before the start of the strike. This agreement, according to LAB, "very little improves the supply of the employers who were at the table".
"This agreement does not meet any of the objectives of the strike, perpetuates the wage gap and precariousness in the sector and introduces greater flexibility, extending the extra hours to the legal maximum," LAB said.
That is why the Abertzale trade union has called on all cleaning workers to "extend the fight started and continue to expand the trade union majority that currently do not have CCOO and UGT".
In this regard, ELA has criticised the decision of CCOO to suspend the cleaning strike the day before the start of the day, calling on the employers to submit a proposal for a "unilateral" agreement, not counting the other unions.
ELA has described CCOO's "absolute disloyalty" as "very negative", which has denounced the situation. "There is no point in pretending to be the first union in Navarra, when it is committed to demobilization that only benefits the employers, breaking the union unit in the sector and giving the employers the agreement they have sought at all times."
In his opinion, "it is not enough" with the pre-agreement reached the updating of wages, without guarantees to maintain purchasing power. "And in addition, there is no other content worth mentioning," according to ELA.
"Through this agreement, CCOO and UGT have denied everything the trade unions have defended in negotiating to deal with the structural problems of the sector. In addition, this also means refusing to value cleaning work. But it has been shown that this sector is essential and that without it, basic services could not work”, said the Vitoria-Gasteiz Executive in a statement.
On the contrary, the UGT trade union has considered that the agreement reached "is good" and "complies with the demands" that were transferred to the negotiating table. "We advocated climbing above the CPI, extending the number of sick leave and extending the working hours of workers with fewer working hours," the union said in a statement.
In this regard, he recalled that the agreement reached between CCOO and UGT with the employers includes an increase of 2.5% by 2021 and 1.75% by 2022 and 2023, which will apply to wage tables in force every year.
