The Kutxabank Publikoa Platform has denounced that the management of BBK and Vital foundations has been getting worse over time. They say that negative decisions have been taken in many areas, which has worsened internal democracy. They claim that the employers of the BBK and Vital foundations are not democratically elected and that their representatives have not changed during the elections. The participation of trade unions and social and cultural actors is also decreasing, and 98 per cent of the population does not know who Kutxabank is.
In addition, the salaries that receive the high fees are too high for the platform, as, for example, Xabier Sagredo, Social Work Manager at BBK, charges 380,000 euros a year. They say that Kutxabank is marking the way for Euskaltel – the Basque telecommunications company has been left in the hands of a British fund – and they add that important decisions must be taken before it is too late for this to happen.
Election of seats at present
The platform has denounced that today the situation has changed a great deal and has called for a return to the previous model or, at least, to follow the path of the Kutxa Foundation.
On the other hand, they have called for better union representation in order to return to the savings bank model and, to this end, they have proposed increasing the number of foundations.
Finally, in order to avoid the risk of privatisation, they propose that actions be returned to parliamentarians and municipalities, legitimate owners, and that foundations be dedicated exclusively to management.
Managers question ethics
The platform has condemned the BBK Social Work manager, Xabier Sagredo, to pay 380,000 euros a year. Furthermore, in order to improve the management of foundations, they propose to modify the distribution of members, maintaining proportionality with votes and giving greater weight to trade unions and social and cultural players:
