The Court of Instruction No. 2 of Vitoria-Gasteiz has removed custody of the 16-year-old son from parents after beating him with a stick and threatening him with death after confessing that he was homosexual. The young man, who had to be rescued by the Ertzaintza last Saturday, is in the hands of the Alavesa Council until he is 18 years old.
The father has been charged with a crime of ill-treatment and the mother has been charged with a crime of threats with a knife. Both have been ordered away from sexual assault. According to the newspaper El Correo, when the Ertzainas arrived at the house, the young man was shaking and his parents did not regret what they had done. "We prefer to see her dead," the parents said in the subsequent statement. The Ertzaintza is investigating whether this was an event of that day or whether such conduct had taken place earlier.
