Build hospitals to care for culture
In this seventh month of the pandemic we continue to learn the consequences that COVID-19 will leave. Among other things, in recent days it has been confirmed that the Durango Fair will not be held in person. Although the rumours circulating around the area were increasing, many of us could not believe that this was the case. However, this year it will go online and will be held online meetings, talks, fast coffee, beer and leagues.

It's a tremendous blow to publishers, printers, distributors and authors, but small groups, self-producers and collectives, and free-riders, will also get a blow of the same standard. The disaster goes beyond the economic consequences, as a significant percentage of the money that Basque culture moves every year disappears, because what is not sold in DA! it shall not be sold elsewhere.
Although it is hard for the culture and the people of Durango, we cannot think of DA! as if in a cultural initiative such as this was an extraordinary and isolated issue, the path to solving situations in isolation has been clearly limited. If we want to take care of the Basque culture, it is essential to strengthen the health infrastructure, increase the number of libraries and expand their location, hire more teachers and put the care in the center. It is essential to think together about the needs of society. So we can easily say that we've lost eight months of experiments to get back to lockdown.
That is why it is clearer than ever that to care for culture we must care for the whole of society, because that is our right and that is what we must demand from those in the institutions. We don't want bonuses to spend on culture, we want new hospitals!
