It seems that in recent years we have been experiencing the times of crisis. They have come to us one after another, and rather than waiting to get out of them, I would say that it is up to us to learn how to manage them. In addition to the time of crises, I would also call it “critical season”. What do I mean by that? Because all the problems that are hitting us have in common strong indications that make the situation serious, because when we try to explain all the threats: ecological, economic, climatic, systemic, humanity, global or COVID-19, we summarize in a few points the “practicality of the problems” (local response scheme). I will try to explain it to you.

Addressing COVID-19, many reflections can be made to explain its evolution and how to deal with it; I will put mine in one direction: to understand and respond to the influence this damn virus has on people, the “economy plan” and the decisions of sovereign states are being the main axes, above any other group of knowledge. I would like to say that many sciences and knowledge have been put in place to control the uncertainty of the virus, such as those derived from biology, chemistry, epidemiology or pharmacy, but what is shaping the virus is the economic policy of the Spanish State, at least in the Spanish and Basque world (we have seen clearly that France, Germany or other states have made their own decisions).

Knowing the nature of the virus, and then “socializing” it, is doing so through state institutions, and I think it is important to understand it. The relationship between the virus and human beings and, therefore, between human beings, has been imposed on us by the state. Many times, we'd all wondered: “How is it possible that a microbe has to define with the instruments that the State has the threat it can create for the human being?” The answer comes to me: “Being the sovereign body can be the right one, because it is the one that guides the political process of every set of knowledge.” But when one type of knowledge gets “above” others and we have no more than obeying the natural laws dictated by it, the level of sensitivity that people have to face the threats (is humanity?) And you lose the ability to give you possible answers.

The figure of the State is the figure of authority, which, without having to explain itself too much, marks the north and the horizon in the lives of all. He who, by intuition in everyday life, gives body to the exterior and interior nature of human beings (material of the objective and subjective moral world). I believe that the strong myth of the invisible hand of the market (which has become nature through the state, directs its decisions more clearly than the nature of biology) should be rethought. The sovereign who will move us from the shield can no longer be the invisible hand of the market; moreover, it has never been either the hand or the invisibility, but the network of decisions of certain actors, even though many economists and politicians have wanted to sell us this way.

It is a challenge that we have ahead of us and not only because the re-emergence of COVID-19 can come, so the answer must also be that way. The nature created so far through states (economic policy) has great difficulties in shaping and articulating society; rather than peace, I would say that the state of war is increasing. We cannot ignore the question of climate, unemployment, immigration, poverty or any uncertainty that limits it through a natural law such as the market. Perhaps so far we have understood the world as a great mechanical organism of solid bodies, and humans have had little trouble moving passive objects “external” through the law of the market. Today, these objects have multiplied and are not easy to define; the virus, atmospheric gases, or a large number of things on the earth’s surface, tell us that they are “alive” (active) and require a response, that is, an assumption of responsibility. It's going to take us to walk in fog like never before, surely, but at least let's do it as collectively it can be more understandable and contestable.
