Everything goes in the face of the crisis and the energy transition
In addition to the wind farm intended to be carried out on the Urola Kosta grounds, we must not forget the new energy plan being carried out in the (nasal) area of the Valley of the Sea*.
As the news of recent weeks has announced, new wind turbines are expected to be launched on the road to the energy transition. These projects have been announced at several locations in Gipuzkoa and Araba under the direction of companies in Northern Europe. They ensure the implementation of infrastructure for access to renewable energy in areas that require significant changes in production, distribution and consumption. However, the change in the face of the energy crisis that is arising from the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine and other conflicts in the East has been a milestone in our country. It is striking that yesterday you were wondering what renewables were in one of these television question programmes.
We woke up in the fall in autumn color. We have taken the necessary tools to work and we have approached the area of Maurketa, one of the slopes between Leioa-Elosumendi, within the limits of the municipality of Bergara. Even though the day is cold, the rays that penetrate between white pines are enough to notice a little temperate. We spent the whole summer digging in the megalitery of Elosua - Plazentzia. Not only this year, there have been years of work with Manu Ceberio, Jesús Tapia and other volunteers from the Aranzadi Society of Sciences. On the contrary, we do not approach ourselves in summer. On the weekends of last March, after all the week working, we eagerly climbed to the top of Karakate. In order to emerge the possible megalithic formations found by the baserritarras of the area. We were present neighbors of the area, baserritarras of the area, archaeologists and members of the Karakate Bizirik platform.
The megalitery of Elosua - Plazentzia is an archaeological site that extends between the boundaries of Bergara, Elgoibar, Soraluze and Azkoitia. It extends through the area known as Muskiz, Mazelaegi, Kortazar, Elosua, Sierra de la Plazencia, Karakate or Mendigain. It consists of 21 monuments that supposedly own the elements that extend from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age. It is a unique environment for the inhabitants of the area and a rest area for many mountaineers. Within the archaeological elements, the areas of archaeological presumption of the area were included and protected. As stated in Law 7/1990, of July 3, they were identified as Basque Heritage, guaranteeing their protection and dissemination. In addition to each of the archaeological elements, in order to protect the archaeological elements that can be found inside, the entire megalithic station of the area is protected. In this case, the entire megalithic station has its own protection. On the contrary, and emphasizing this point, the last protected dossier is that of Irukurutzeta. The dolmen is 7 kilometers from the upper of Karakate, without protecting the whole high of Karakate.
The new research carried out at the beginning of the year ensured the existence of archaeological remains from the last two to the Karakate antenna. Examples of this are the Gortazar and Otsoaldaoro tracks. This raises the need to expand the archaeological area.
Continuing with the wind farms project that has generated political debate, the project that Green Capital Development 135 S.L.U. He wants to carry out in the high Karakate he is still active. It aims to install two wind turbines on the karakate. This forces us to build new tracks from the town of Soraluze to the upper of Karakate in order to bring all the materials and tools. As if it were not enough, the only option that has been drawn to ascend to it is to extend it through all the megalitery. We stand in front of a long stand 15 meters from the dolmens, in front of a protected area. The blades of the generators to be installed shall be of a length of 77,4 metres and journeys for transport and other machines shall be made by the construction of tracks of 5 metres width. Furthermore, the previous report of the Basque Government last August in the area of Karakate says that the works to be carried out in the area will be little or little harmful. In other words, it violates the protection areas of the archaeological area.
In the face of the crisis and the energy transition it is perceived that everything is worth it. It becomes an excuse. But what we are going to say, the only thing we do is spend some time in front of society on the mountain, between barros. It has been shown that our work is invaluable. While it is necessary to balance everyday needs, we should also bear in mind that anything is not worth it, even when the objective is really energy. In view of this it has been seen that everything is worth, it has become an excuse.
