According to the new law, this product can be purchased free of charge in public places such as health centers or pharmacies, among others. The State will contribute €29 million a year, according to the state news agency Reuters reported in a statement.
In the first parliamentary vote, the new law received 112 votes in favour, one abstention and none against. Now, in the second phase, parliamentarians will be able to table amendments to the whole of the House’s budgets.
Scottish MEP Monica Lennon has assured that the adoption of the law will mark "a milestone in the normalisation of the rule" and shows that Parliament is "serious" about gender equality.
