On 9 March, the Congress of Deputies adopted a number of points in a non-legislative proposal by EH Bildu for minority languages. The votes of the PSOE were essential to ask the Spanish Government to support and encourage the statutory reforms to formalise its own languages.
The subject has come to the Parliament of Navarre. But the Socialists have not done the same thing: they have not supported a motion calling on the Government of Navarra to accept that minimal agreement. The PSN considers that the issue of officialdom is not among the concerns of the Navarros and has therefore voted against it.
Eh Bildu has accused the socialists of "not being consistent" and of "voting for political ends". Navarre Suma regretted his attitude towards the Basque people and criticized the fact that the Socialists were on the right track.
EH Bildu’s initiative in Congress has been supported by various cultural institutions in favour of minority languages. Minority languages claim to have the same rights as Spanish, but that point was not recognised.
