The habit of taking the plane and moving it remotely during a long holiday or a few days is deeply rooted among us, and the intention of the members of the camping in Armur is to turn this tourism concept around. Enhancing local tourism.
The campsite consumes little electricity and works by self-catering: “We have solar panels and electric accumulators and a generator for the most adverse weather conditions. We're not connected to the power grid." They use a lot of pellet and fire for heating, also for reducing electricity consumption.
Local products are used in the restaurant and bar as far as possible: “The cheese of the pastors of the people, the organic jam that is made here... we try to make everything that can be from here.” That philosophy of the camping attracts a customer profile, says Ossa, is people who usually have an ecological and social awareness. With a view to the future, it is intended to promote initiatives such as the use of the campsite for courses, meetings, etc. : “I am not interested in tourism too much, we would like to strengthen ecological and social initiatives for the future,” he says.
Ossa tells us that, despite being a town of less than a hundred inhabitants, for 15 years there has been a great movement in Armur linked to ecology and other consumption models. The editorial La Fertility de la Tierra has an office, there are pastors who work as before, there are projects of ecological production, there is also a cooperative of ecological consumption...
The members of the campsite are also in contact with all these movements of the village, and they say that a very nice dynamic has been created: “This is not an eco-village or eco-housing project, but it has taken that tone informally.”
