Sports and games: practical materials to teach children sports games, in Basque
- The Athlon Cooperative Society, in collaboration with the Asmoz Foundation of Eusko Ikaskuntza, has launched the Kirol eta Jolas programme. The initiative is supported by the Department of Culture and Linguistic Policy of the Basque Government.
The aim of the project is to offer school sports materials in Basque aimed specifically at the monitors who work. And that is that there is a huge gap in the manufacture of school sport material for younger children, specifically between the ages of 6-9.
Boys and girls from 6 to 9 years old play sports games and on this subject the trainers have very little practical material in Basque. On the contrary, we found more guides and content oriented to older adults and specific sports. This project aims to fill this gap by offering practical, structured and quality audiovisual materials in Basque.
All these contents are online and free on a website created for the project. In it, monitors will find short explanatory videos and practices and written guides to teach children the most important sports games, so that they can have varied and portable resources to conduct training in Basque.
