In 2023, the Bolivian Ketxu community plans to implement a strategic plan to revitalize its language. This plan is now being developed and the first sessions have been held between 4 and 6 November in the three cities of the three main departments of the Bolivian Cements: Cochabamba, Sucren and Potosí. Txema Abarrategi, Iñaki Martínez de Luna and Eñaut Agirre, members of the association Garabide, have attended the conferences from the Basque Country. They have explained the details of the revitalization of the Basque Country, so that they can take their ideas when defining the plan.
As Garabide explained, members of the Ketxua community are "concerned" about the situation of the language and have used three-day sessions to identify weaknesses and strengths and initiate the design of the revitalization plan. The plan is expected to be implemented by 2022 and to be launched by 2023.
Ketxu is the minority language of indigenous peoples, spoken in Peru, Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. It is currently recognized as an official language in Bolivia and Peru, but not in Chile and Argentina. Community members and various entities organize projects to promote the language and collaborate with Garabide.
