KarKarCar is a non-profit consumer cooperative that participates in the REAS Solidarity Economy network. It provides mobility services and products to accelerate the transition to more sustainable mobility and ensure the creation of an economy that serves people.
“The planet is going through a severe climate crisis and one of the factors that cause it is the mobility and transport model based on the consumption of fossil fuels. Today, the majority of the population lives in polluted cities and towns, unhealthy and inhumane, invaded by private vehicles. The paradigm of the individual car has expired. It pollutes, is used very little and occupies a lot of public space. A change is needed and it’s up to us,” say the KarKarCar cooperatives.
KarKarCar aims to achieve “pleasant populations” in a “pleasant world” and therefore opts for a shared electric car to combat pollution. “We understand that the most sustainable route is the one we don’t do, and that whenever we can, transfers should be made on foot, by bicycle, by public transport or by shared vehicle. We want to transform mobility based on the private use of the vehicle to a mobility where the vehicle and the route can be shared, connecting people, organizations and groups to build efficient and sustainable transport models. Today, new technologies allow the design of a downward mobility model in the number of vehicles and the emission of greenhouse gases”.
Rules for the use of partners and vehicles
Being part of KarKarCar is easy. Joining the “sustainable mobility community” to become a partner requires a single contribution of 60 euros. In addition, this contribution can be refunded if you leave the cooperative.
The use of vehicles is subject to certain rules, and you can buy time vouchers to drive vehicles. The motorcycle and electric cars (at the moment 6) are distributed in different points of the Pamplona, through an application it is possible to check their availability and book their use.
