The audiovisual that Intxorta 1937 is preparing is scheduled to be presented on October 10 in Mondragón. For this purpose, they are working on the search for funding and have launched crowdfunding so that anyone who wants to provide financial support can participate in the project.
Celestino Uriarte by Juan Ramón Garai. The documentary source has a biography entitled Clandestinity and Communist Resistance (Chalaparta, 2006) and includes interviews with sixteen people in all: “Through these experiences, we deepen the dreams of the men and women who believed in the social republic, proclaimed the self-determination of the peoples and fought against capitalism on different fronts,” says Intxorta 1937.
Celestino Uriarte (Arrasate 1909, Madrid 1979) was a well-known communist fighter. He participated in the revolution of 1934; during the War of 1936 he was the founder of the Dragons battalion of the Basque Army and commander of the republican brigades. Wounded in the Ebro battle, after having been in exile, he returned to work with the post-war machines and was arrested in 1946, but soon afterwards he managed to escape from the prison of Martuen. He was a member of the central committee of the PCE until his expulsion in 1970.
