As of April 17, 3,100 justice workers are called to stand in Hego Euskal Herria. Indefinite stops of three hours a day from 10:00 to 13:00 have been announced. In addition, they announce an all-day strike for April 19.
This is a national call called by the CCOO, STAJ, UGT and SCIF trade unions. In Navarra LAB and APAFNA have also joined the call and in the CAV LAB and ELA have made their own call.
The Spanish Government is legislating to change the organization of the administration of justice. The trade unions denounce that the change of law has not taken workers into account. CCOO explains in the mobilisation of Monday in Pamplona that the agreement has been made by the Ministry of Finance and the lawyers of the Administration of Justice, which represent only 6% of the total judicial staff. It therefore stresses that the gap between lawyers of the administration of justice and general staff will widen.
That is why the trade unions are calling for the law to be suspended in the Spanish Parliament until agreement is reached at the sectoral table of the Justice Administration. They also call for a salary increase of the Justice Administration staff, ranging from EUR 350 to EUR 430 per post.
Claims of ELA and LAB
The two largest unions in the Basque Country denounce that the Basque Government has not equated the salary and retirement conditions of justice staff with those of the general administration of the CAE. In particular, those in the general administration earn 13 per cent more than those in the courts of justice.
They explain that many meetings have been held over the last twelve years to put the matter on the agenda. The last meeting with the Basque Government took place on 31 March, but the government has not given a "positive response".
They also call for the salary supplement to be applied to the staff of the Gender Violence Courts.
