On Saturday, the World March of Women was held at the Cultural Center of Villava. About 300 people gathered to reflect and discuss the issue of macho violence and feminist justice.
The starting point for the encounters has been where, with whom and how it is advisable to deal with macho violence in the jacket. In fact, the feminist movement has long been concerned with the extent to which the justice system is supportive, such as whether it guarantees reparation for victims and/or how complaints of macho violence are dealt with. They have made visible the lights and shadows of various judicial processes in the Basque Country.
The protection of victims, respect for one’s own rhythms, reactions, complicity and/or testimonies have been some of the debates that have been part of the round tables.
They also look at the current state of society. The diagnosis clearly states: “Neither this patriarchal, racist and classist system, nor the institutions derived from it, meet the needs of women and other injured bodies; in the wake of this justice, it cannot.” And in fact, they have also criticized the racist nature of the model of justice.
